Paper on the study of pancreatic cancer with Osaka University was in Oncotarget.

2019.10.15

This paper is the first report on the possibility that our cancer test N-NOSE could be applied to non-human animals. This time, we used urine from model mice of pancreatic cancer (mice prone to have pancreatic cancer by gene manipulation), and conducted chemotaxis behavior test. As a result, it suggests that nematodes showed repellent behavior to the urine from normal mice, while model mice of pancreatic cancer showed attractant behavior. This significant difference in chemotaxis behavior suggests that nematodes can distinguish odor of urine of not only human but mice. In this study, mutation called KrasG12D is introduced to the model mice.
